Optional Summer classes
Students in UTAP are not required to take summer classes. However, to make the transition to college easier, UTAP recommends that students enroll in Counseling 60 during the summer. This short-term, one-unit class introduces students to the study skills that are necessary for their college survival and success. Students may enroll in any available Counseling 60 class offered during the summer.
Students who are interested in getting into the UTAP program but who do not meet the English 60 eligibility requirements are encouraged to take English 58 during the summer. Students may enroll in any section of English 58 offered during the summer. Students who pass English 58 may come into UTAP in the fall. Contact a Cypress College Counselor at the Counseling Center at (714) 484-7015 (The Complex, room 215) or Mary Forman, UTAP faculty member at (714) 484-7156 or mforman@cypresscollege.edu for more information about this.
Fall Semester
For the Fall 2007 semester, students in UTAP are required to take three classes: English 60, Theater 120, and Counseling 150. All of these are general education or preparatory classes that count towards the students' graduation and transfer goals.
Spring Semester
For the Spring 2008 semester, students in UTAP are required to take three classes: English 100, Psychology 101, and Freshman Transition Seminar. All of these are general education or preparatory classes that count towards the students' graduation and transfer goals.
A Note on Enrollment in UTAP classes
During the course of the academic year, students enroll in specially designated UTAP sections of each of these classes. Because of the interdisciplinary nature of UTAP, students must be enrolled in all three UTAP classes each semester. These classes are only open to UTAP students. During UTAP orientation, students will be given special admit codes which will allow them to register for these classes. Without these codes, students will be blocked from enrolling in UTAP classes.
For more information about enrolling in UTAP, please contact Mary Forman, UTAP faculty, at (714) 484-7156 or e-mail mforman@cypresscollege.edu. You may also visit the Cypress College Counseling Center on the second floor, room 215, of The Complex for more information.
