The Encierro — The Running

Get to the route of the Encierro early. You'll have just enough time to suck down some coffee, read the newspaper that you'll carry when you run and ponder your mortality as this man does here.
The runners pray to Saint Fermin before the bulls are released.
The Red Cross workers are EVERYWHERE!
Only a small percentage of runners get to run at full speed near the bulls. These runners are on the stretch between the "telefonica" and the entrance to the bullring.
One of the most dangerous sections is just ahead of these runners. The course narrows and the bulls and runners are squeezed together as they enter the "callejon" under the bullring.
After each morning's encierro, workers dismantle all the temporary barricades.
By 9:30 each morning the bulls, the borachos and all the trash have been cleaned off the streets.
